Lab Diamonds
What are lab grown diamonds?
Also known as lab-created diamonds and man-made diamonds, lab-grown diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. They are developed in a highly controlled laboratory, using innovative technology that replicates the conditions in which natural diamonds are developed.
How are lab-grown diamonds made?
Step 1. Tiny carbon diamond seeds are placed in a growth chamber.
Step 2. With extreme heat and pressure from the chamber, diamonds are created from these seeds.
Step 3. After 3-4 weeks the diamond is created and ready to be cut.
Step 4. In the final stages, the diamond is cut and polished.
Are lab grown diamonds tested like real diamonds?
Considering their identical counterparts, lab-grown diamonds are nearly impossible to tell apart from natural diamonds, even using a jewelry loupe! Natural diamonds can only be distinguished from lab-grown diamonds by testing with specialized equipment.
Are lab-grown diamonds considered real diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are structurally and optically the same as mined diamonds. They are identical to natural diamonds, sharing the same physical, chemical and optical properties as their natural counterparts. When purchasing a lab grown diamond, you should always receive a certificate identifying them as lab grown.
